A key to saving money on PCB manufacturing during the design phase is to optimize the usable area available for each standard manufacturing panel. Most PCB manufacturers, including Streamline, use 16 x 18, 18 x 21 and 18 x 24.
Streamline Circuits exceeds the standard by offering 21 x 24 and 24 x 30 for applications ranging from large boards to long flex PCBs.
The usable area for an 18 x 24 size panel will be 16 x 22. This would then allow you to break the usable area down mathematically into two segments of 8 x 11 and finally 4 x 5.5. Utilizing these sizes will achieve maximum cost benefits.
The Panel Optimizer will determine the best way to place single images on arrays and as well as panels. Users simply plug in their board dimensions and the Optimizer calculates all the possible panel placement combinations in seconds!
Example: 7.25″ x 8.0″ Array = 6 Arrays per processes Panel 7.25″ fits 3 times in the 24″ Axis, while the 8″ fits 2 times in the 18″ Axis.
*Remember if your board has controlled impedance requirements to allow space on the panel for test coupons.
